Colour Palette

Colour

I knew that I needed to keep to a small colour palette for my music magazine, so I chose blue, red, black and white.
I decided to chose these colours because many music magazines used these colour palettes, as you can see below:

I have also looked at colour palettes and have put some together which I haven't chosen because they don't go well together or because they aren't typically music magazine colours or because they look too childish for my target audience. You can see the colour palettes below:

For all these colours do go well together, for example the 1st colour palette goes well together, but music magazines usually have bold colours, rather than soft colours. For the 2nd colour palette I went to the extreme and tried to find colours that both contrasted and went together, however these colours aren't really seen together on a music magazine, so I decided not to use them, so I would keep to the media conventions. For the 3rd colour palette I thought I would try colours that aren't as contrasting, however for a magazine they need to stand out against all of the other magazines. Also the 3rd colour palette looks more like a gardening magazine colour palette, so it would give the readers the wrong connotation for my music magazine. For the 4th colour palette, I decided not to use these colour together because they don't fit in with my music magazine as these colours would usually be seen on a children's/early teen magazine, and it would appeal to the wrong audience and mislead readers.
