Final Products - Revisited

I have re-created a Front Cover, Contents Page and a Double Page Spread for my AS Media at A2 as I believed they didn't look professional or show off my true media ability and these are the final products below:

Evaluation - Question 7 Revisited

This is my answer in response to Question 7. Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Evaluation - Question 6 Revisited

6.     What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

From doing this process of constructing this product I have learnt how to use Photoshop, including how to write, draw, copy, paste, and edit things in Photoshop, as I had to create text, a background, 2 lines and edit my images. I have also learnt how to save documents in Photoshop, including saving it as a JPEG. In Photoshop I have also found how to order layers so that one layer will be on top of the other.

I have also learnt how to use Blogger; on how to post a blog, on how to upload a blog, create a blog, add a link, and how to add an image.

I have also learnt how to use SurveyMonkey in that I had to create my own questions, how to post my questions to my target audience and learn how to analyse my answers that my target audience had completed.

I have also learnt how to use Facebook as I didn’t know how to upload a post, how to send it to people on Facebook and how to upload my final products, but now after constructing my media product I have learnt how to do these things.

Evaluation - Question 5 Revisited

This is question 3 for my media as evaluation for my media product.

Evaluation - Question 2 Revisited

1.     How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My particular social group for my media product is 14-21 year olds who are interested in listening to undiscovered artists/bands.

Front Cover
For my front cover I have tried to use the same conventions that similar music magazines use that are targeted at the same age range as me, however sometimes I may challenge the music magazines conventions as my media product has a unique selling point; to have undiscovered artists/bands in my music magazine so that they can become discovered by my target audience without the aid of talent shows.

An example how I have represented my target audience is that I have included websites links on my front cover as the target audience I have chosen will typically be interested in, know how to use and would like to use digital media, so I have included it into my media product.

Also for my music magazine I have used female models and male models who are in my the age range of my target audience as this is what they do in real life music magazines, as it allows the target audience know who the audience is aimed at as a music magazine would have teenagers- early twenties on it, eg. Sugar magazine, who has a target audience of 16-28 year olds, so they have put Miley Cyrus who is in her twenties. But because my media product is aimed at female 14-21 year olds I will include artists/bands who appeal to my target audience, which would include people they may know or haven’t been discovered yet.
However I have also included many different genres of music from different types of artists and bands so that males and different age groups may also find my media product appealing too.

I have chosen predominantly 14-21 year old females as my target audience because at that moment in time of life they may still be unsure as to what they’re going to do as a career, so I have created a music magazine which is about artists/bands and how they got to be where they are today, why they decided to choose music, and if they enjoy it, so that it would inspire them to get into music, or just be more involved in music.

I have also represented my social group in the pricing of my media product in that I have decided to sell my music magazine for £2.99. At this price it is cheap enough for my target audience to buy as at this age they usually don’t have a lot of money and it is also a competitive price compared to other music magazine, which is aimed at my target audience.

Also my product masthead looks like VOGUE magazine, which also has a female target audience so that my target audience knows that my magazine is for them, as well as knowing that like the look of my revisited magazine, VOGUE looks sophisticated and has a similar masthead.

Contents Page

For my front cover I have tried to appeal to my target audience by making the layout of my contents page the same as ‘Q’ magazine, as I already know that my target audience like that layout as they buy that music magazine and have also used the same type of image for my revisited magazine as the ‘GLAMOUR’ magazine as it signifies what I want my magazine to look like; professional and strong.

I have also included many different genres and artists/bands so that my target audience would at least like one artist/band from my music magazine, as they wouldn’t buy a music magazine where the artists/bands that are in it don’t appeal to them, no matter how much they may like my layout.

I have also put a website on my contents page so that they can check out the magazine online as people from my target audience are typically interested in digital media, so I decided to include this into my music magazine.

Double Page Spread

For my double page spread I have represented a particular social group in that I have put a young female as the image as you need to have a person from your target audience to be in your media product as this is what they do in real magazines, for example in NME magazine and Vogue magazine they have used models who are in their target audience.

I have also used only one image so that it is stripped back enough to appeal to 21 year olds, but enough images so that it appeals to 14 year olds and the age range in between. I have also not put a lot of text on my double page spread so that it appeals to 14 year olds, but I have also put enough text in so that 21 year olds will be interested in the article.

Evaluation - Question 3 Revisited

This is question 3 for my media as evaluation for my media product.

I have kept the same media institution to distribute my media product as it is essentially the same product, however I have changed the layout, the image and the colour palette etc to make it look more professional.

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
